Well ...if some of our members were not cheap enough, I wouldn't mind asking each of them to send individual flowers through FTD for $30.00. Given the situation where we have to badger each of our members to squeeze out $20.00 for IV contributions - cheap sense makes sense!

I don't think people are in reality. We are in an environment that we have to be diligent that they don't make it harder then what it is; rather then making it easier.
People started playing the devils advocate that if there is quotas on EB then there should also be quota on H-1b; sort of trying to say if there isn't quota on h-1b then there shouldn't be on EB.
A little while ago; some Indian nationals who were here on H-2 visa to help with re-construcing mississipi and louisiana after hurrican katrina got the bright idea to do a march and go public with their grievances. Their grievances were that they paid $15K to come to USA; they were given poor housing, poor working conditions and they want to get greencards.
Do you think they got greencards? No; now the law has been changed to not include India as part of H-2 visas.
Everyone should try to understand the reality that we are in.

We need to lay low for a while until economy improves and focus on keeping our jobs. That is the need of the hour rather than becoming a hero and trying to go against the wave.

If there is no bill flying now and situation is tough, then you are attracting too much attention when everyone is against immigrants. God forbid they decide to punish immigrants more due to this by more anti-bills.
You would be safe because you have EAD. But what about those without EADs.
If you really want to do something then help us allow filing I485 when visa dates are not current. So that everyone gets EAD. EAD is lot better than H1B and this will be a temporary relief. EAD gives so much protection than H1B and that should be our #1 priority.

got receipt notice dated 6th of june for 140 premium processing and got call from employer on 8th of june evening saying the case has been approved. approved in less than 3 days.

Santosh_gc, I don't have a problem when you talk about illegals getting ahead of legals etc. But the comment about illegal immigrants bringing corruption into the U.S. was way out of line. It is unfair that illegal immigrants may get ahead of legal immigrants. Let us leave it at that and not speculate on how they might introduce corruption into society. No discussions on how they break the law when they enter the country - that is a bogus argument. I called IO today, still no information in system about my I-485 application that I filed June 28. What is funny is they can find my H1 extension that I filed on July 22 ??!!
I asked if my case will be transfered to Texas as my I-140 is approved from Texas, answer: Yes it will transferred to Texas IF they need to. So it is not a must. we will see..

You are already out of status as H1 accounts for continuous employment along with regular pay. H1 visa, job and pay go hand in hand. Any one component missing means you are out of status.
There is no grace period. As the earlier member said, it is a gray area without any specific guidelines. I have seen people stay out of job (status) for 4 months and have used portability or consulate stamp upon getting a new job. It all depends on the IO.
BTW, did you ever realize how unethical it is to use a consultant for acquiring a H1 visa without actually having a fulltime job? For last 7 years I am on H1 myself and have played by rules… I hate people who false represent the facts for immigration benefits.
Because of people like you genuine candidates who have legitimate jobs are left out as you guys get lucky in the lottery even though you don’t have a regular fulltime job. My wife was forced to stay at home for almost 3 years because of people like you.. FYI she had a job offer (from a F500 Inc.) but people like you got lucky when it came to H1 lottery. Not just that but people like you give a bad name to legal immigrant community.
